What is a Federation?

A Federation is a group of schools, which have agreed to work together, collaboratively in certain areas for the good of the member schools and all their students and staff. There are Federations throughout the country and the numbers are rapidly growing. Current educational thinking views this as the way of the future and the benefits, both educational and financial, are potentially far reaching.

Federations are made up of schools, which have joined together for a variety of reasons, but the one thing they have in common is the strength that they create through unity. They will have a sense of common purpose, clear common goals and a common ethos. Through a federated approach and mutual understanding, a sharing of ideas and resources, it is believed that schools can gain in strength and efficiency, thus improving education in its widest sense.
